A Message From Our Executive Director, Kristen Perlmutter
August is here and summer is winding down. This is usually the point when I get depressed about going back to school and the racing around from one activity to another. It is also the point when I start to celebrate some much needed freedom from my kids. Back to school means parents get their lives back a bit (at least until 3 pm each day). This year feels and looks a bit different. School appears to be happening remotely for most (if not all) of us. The sense of some freedom to get our lives back is not available this year and the idea of kids being home with us all day indefinitely is overwhelming to say the least. How do we move forward like this? How can we get our lives back? We are all trying to navigate our new normal and keep our heads on straight while attempting to juggle work, home life, and our kids educational plan for the year.
Jenna and I have created a Mainspring Family Wellness Fall Schedule to help you survive the Fall and beyond with your kids. We have classes for both parents and kids to help calm your anxiety and provide you with practical coping skills to make it through the next 6 months to a year. We are also here to help answer your educational questions, to make plans that best suit your family. As always, take a deep breath, cut yourself some slack (this isn’t easy), and know we are here for you and we are in this together!

Anxiety proofing For Tweens
Raising a tween can be hard, and our middle schoolers need skills on how to cope more than ever. This class is a supportive environment to increase coping skills with anxiety, problem solve, decrease social anxiety, get a handle on social media, and foster a strong, resilient, positive self-image. Taught by Dr. Jenna Flowers, MFT, this is an educational and hands-on class with interactive tools to support healthier cognitions, self-regulation, and decrease frustration tolerance.
Wednesdays beginning September 16th 5 to 6pm
6 weeks Cost: $360
Conscious Parenting 2
Dr. Jenna Flowers will lead an informative six-week course for moms on highly effective discipline strategies, sibling rivalry, managing technology effectively, sexual development, developing healthy self-esteem, and mothering and food. This class is a staple for Orange County moms and will benefit parents of 0-12-year-olds.

Conscious Parenting Tweens Part 2
Whether you are raising a boy or a girl, middle school is tough. Join Dr. Jenna Flowers for part 2 of raising tweens covering managing parental disappointment, navigating privilege, ethical support in academics, and encouraging capability, supporting healthy identity, and fostering cultural diversity. This class will have guest expert speakers in raising tweens. This class is meeting outside in person and zoom conference available for this class as well.

Let's Learn to Watercolor A beginning class on learning watercolor taught by art college student. Learn how to paint watercolor in a supportive environment. Supplies charge additional. Enneagram Monthly Study Group Taught by Certified Enneagram Institute Instructor Lisa Morrice, this class is a personal growth journey over the next ten months to explore the how the many facets of the Enneagram can help you understand your personality, your challenges, wounds, and strengths, and continue to influence your personal development. Class is taught at an outdoor location and meets monthly. A commitment for the 10 month class is requested. Enneagram Study Group
